Compensation

Burnet Consolidated ISD will attract, support, develop, and retain highly effective staff for 100% of our district positions.

BCISD’s Board of Trustees and Administration is committed to providing salary increases to our staff and works diligently to ensure BCISD’s total compensation package is competitive and rewarding.  As a testament to this, the Board of Trustees approved the Administration’s recommendation of a 2% Midpoint General Pay Increase for Teachers and Librarians and a 2% Midpoint General Pay Increase (MGPI) for all other staff on July 24, 2023.

Compensation FAQs

How will my general pay increase be calculated?

To determine your new pay rate you will need to know your 2022-2023 pay rate found in Skyward and you will need to locate your pay grade and midpoint on the compensation plan.

For example:

Bus Driver

Calculating a teacher/librarian general pay increase:

All teachers and librarians will receive a $1,125 general pay increase.  This amount is calculated by determining 2% of the current market teacher median salary

When will I receive my first paycheck with the pay increase:

Employee Group                        Months of Pay Cycle

10-Month Transportation (Semi-Monthly) September-June
10-Month Food Service (Semi-Monthly) September-August
10-Month (Monthly) September-August
11-Month August-July
12-Month July-June
12-Month Auxiliary (Semi-Monthly) September-August

What is a pay grade?
Pay grades represent the internal job classification as well as external job market pay levels. The greater the level of compensable factors present in a job, the higher the  placement in the pay grade structure. Jobs with similar overall degrees of compensable factors will be in the same pay grade.  The use of pay grade levels facilitates payroll  administration and maintains the integrity of the job worth hierarchy. The pay grade midpoint is the chief control point in the system.

A minimum and maximum pay rate for each grade is computed from the midpoint to maintain pay equity or fair pay for each job in the system.

How do I reach the midpoint of a pay grade?

Salary is determined based on years of job-related work experience.  Employees move within the pay grade through general pay increases.

Do I receive additional earnings for a college degree?

Teachers who earn a master's degree or higher are eligible for additional compensation.

How do I calculate what I'll earn each month if I am an hourly employee paid monthly over 12 months (ex. Instructional Partner)?
  1. Hourly rate X Number of hours per day = Daily rate

  2. Daily rate X Number of service calendar days = Annualized amount

  3. Annualized amount / 12 = Monthly amount
